Welcome to the NEW Food Lover’s Odyssey! More than an extreme makeover, we’re brand new! I had more than a blog redesign, I have a whole new site, and it gives a well-organized home to all the new culinary vacations I’m now offering. Please come in and look around. Like a brand new house, everything is neat and in order. I will do my best to keep it that way. Let me know what you think of the new digs and if you need help finding anything. Check out our new Home Page. For 2015 I have added a whole set of new culinary vacations. You can easily view all of them by clicking on the Culinary Vacations tab on the menu bar at the top!
More than a new site and blog design, this endeavor is a realization of a dream, one that 14 years ago even I considered impossible and unreachable, well, almost. It was May 2001, but as if it were last week, I remember sitting with my mom eating chocolate gelato in Piazza Navona. Next to us was a tour guide with her guests. She was talking about her city, her Rome, and sharing history and details about the the city with such love and passion that I couldn’t stop listening. I eavesdropped on the entire conversation. Even though she lived there day in and day out, Rome’s magic was very much alive and obvious. I said to my mom, “Wow, I want to do THAT! How do you think I could do what she does?” I don’t remember exactly what my mom said. She never outwardly discouraged me, but she also never
ran head on at full throttle into embraced change and risk like I do. But here it is 2015, and here I am. Doing THIS, my version of what the lady in Rome was doing!! It’s going well, so well I needed this new site.
Last night as I added a few edits and tweaks before we went “live” today, I thought about that afternoon in Rome and wondered what my mom would say about all this. She passed away in 2003, so I don’t know what she is thinking. One thing I do know is that the magic of Italy, and of France too, are still very much alive for me, and it gives me such joy to be able to share it with you through the Food Lover’s Odyssey blog and eventually, I hope, a culinary vacation.
Now that this site is ready, (although I will be working on minor tweaks needed because of the blog move) I’m ready to get back on this food loving odyssey. I’ll be back in Provence and traveling in a week, and I promise, blogging more. Please join me.
Again, welcome to the new site! Stay, have look around and please click on every button and arrow. See where it takes you.
