Italy on a Plate – The Week in Italian Food: April 8, 2012

Chocolate Easter eggs in Italy

It's the Easter Monday, or Pasquetta, version on Italy on a Plate.  I hope everyone had a happy holiday weekend filled with family, friends, fun and lots of great food.  Just when I think I'm finished with the chocolate eggs and sweets for a while or at least until the next Italian holiday, I see the last slice of Cassata Siciliana calling my name. The holiday is not quite over yet here on the blog either. This week's roundup is full of Easter dishes from all around Italy – savory breads from Umbria, Abruzzo & Napoli, savory dishes from Sicily & the Lunigiana, and desserts and sweet breads from Puglia, Napoli, Calabria and Tuscany.  In Eating Italy a post about the best places to find already made picnic baskets in Rome.  There are many entertaining & informative posts on last week's wine bloggers expedition to the Eastern Hills of Friuli and more.  Enjoy and Buon Appetito!
